Madonna has donated half a million dollars to Italy's earthquake victims. I know a lot of people think, "oh, that's just a drop in the bucket for her, anyways", but the fact is half a million dollars is a lot of money and she didn't HAVE to do that. Kudos, Madonna!
Pink has given a quarter of a million dollars to the victims of the Australia bushfires that has claimed over 200 lives and has left thousands homeless. Go, Pink!
Hugh Jackman is pledging to donate 100 thousand dollars to one of his followers on Twitter's favorite charity. The winner has to convince him why in 140 characters or less. Alright, Wolverine!
Britney Spears, everyone's favorite gossip girl, actually does a lot of good things, despite all of the bad press, so I think she deserves props for the good that she does. Last month, during her Circus Tour, she stopped at a local children's hospital in Miami to visit with sick children, also donating $100,000 to the big apple circus clown care program, which sends clowns to come entertain and visit with sick kids in hospitals.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are right up there with Oprah, though. These two are celebrities that not only put up a lot of money (because, quite honestly, most of them can afford to and have more money than most of us!), but they actually get involved in the charities. Last year, the couple donated over 8 million dollars to different charities! On top of that, Brad Pitt's foundation, make it right, has already built many new houses for the Katrina victims of the 9th ward. The Philippines was recently affected by typhoon Ondoy and one of the local celebrities donated 1M pesos for the flood victims. However, some people still say that he's a scrooge because he only gave a million while he spent 70M for his yacht.
ReplyDeleteIt's depressing to think how people fail to see the brighter and positive side of things. I bet those who complained didn't even spare a cent for their fellowmen. The least they could've done is be grateful that there are still people who are blessed and willing to help.
